Snout-to-Tail Tour and Dinner, Lancaster County

October 22, 2011
Sponsored by Grid Magazine and FORK Restaurant and The FruitGuys
With special guest Judy Wicks

Tickets: $125 – CLICK TO PURCHASE

WHAT’S INCLUDED: Transportation • Tour of Sweet Stem Farm • Tour of Smucker’s Meats (slaughterhouse and processing facility) • Tour of Green Meadow Farm • Catered dinner and wine pairing by Fork Restaurant.

Trace the route your meat travels from pig to plate with Fair Food and Fork Restaurant!  Cows, sheep, pigs and chickens didn’t always eat processed, GMO grain and live in cramped feedlots. Tour the farm, meet the animals, and learn from farmer, Philip Landis, how a grass-based pasture system produces healthy animals and high-quality food when we visit Sweet Stem Farm in Eprata, Lancaster County.

From there, we’ll move on to Smucker’s Meats, a family-owned processing facility in Mt. Joy, to learn about humane animal slaughter and meat processing, and dry-aging with a tour from Jay Smucker.

Finally, we’ll gather at Green Meadow Farm in Gap. Farmer, Glenn Brendle will give us a tour of his fields and his eight greenhouses, all powered with homemade biodiesel.  Dinner and wine will be served on Green Meadow Farm, featuring Sweet Stem meats and Green Meadow specialty produce, prepared by Fork’s executive chef Terence Feury.
