At the Farmstand: June 18 - July 1

Peggy Paul Casella, Resident Wordsmith (and Farmstand Associate)

Sweet red and white cherries have finally arrived at the Farmstand, and they're just in time for Father's Day weekend! Swing by and stock up on these summer gems for Chocolate Cherry Pancakes, sweet cherry piecherry clafoutisCherry-Bourbon Ice Cream, and savory dishes, too. Dad will love grilled pork chops or pepper-crusted duck breasts with cherry sauce (Country Time's heritage breed pork chops work especially well on the grill, and Griggstown's duck breasts will blow his mind). Or if you're planning a Father's Day picnic, why not make some Cherry-Almond Focaccia or cherry and goat cheese crostini to bring along?

We're also expecting this year's first deliveries of blueberries (from Blueberry Bill, Hammonton, NJ) andraspberries (from Redhead Farms, Hammonton, NJ) to hit the 'stand tomorrow, marking the official start of summer berry season. So dust off your canning supplies, and get your baking pans ready for crumblescrisps, and cobblers galore.

PS: We've still got plenty of snow peas and snap peas, zucchini, and pickling cucumbers, and a lovely harvest of squash blossoms was just delivered yesterday from Heritage Farm! Stay tuned for sour cherries, cheddar cauliflower, hot peppers, and frying peppers, which should all show up sometime in the next few weeks. Follow us on Facebook for the latest updates on hot new deliveries.
