Get Ready for the Local Food Guide!

2013 Local Food Guide Cover As the growing season begins, we at Fair Food are revving up for our annual collaboration with Grid Magazine: the Local Food Guide! Each year--this is our 11th!--the Local Food Guide helps consumers find businesses that support our local food system: farmstands, buying clubs, grocers, cafes, restaurants, food trucks, stores, caterers, food artisans, chefs, institutions, CSAs, farmers markets -- and, of course, Fair Food member businesses. This comprehensive guide to our region's abundant local food sources is a testament to the work that Fair Food does to help bring local, sustainable food to the marketplace.

One of the wonderful things about the Guide is how well it showcases Fair Food's members. Each year, we perform a comprehensive fact-checking process to confirm that each business listed is sourcing locally, and we invite Fair Food members to submit an expanded listing for inclusion in the Guide. Fair Food membership is growing (we have welcomed 9 new businesses to our roster since the new year!) and diverse. Many of our Philly Farm & Food Fest and Brewer's Plate participants have joined the Fair Food family, and we welcome the opportunity to help new members enhance local sourcing and promotion. Membership with Fair Food promotes your business and demonstrates your commitment to buying from local farmers and producers.

If you're a Fair Food member due to renew for 2014, we'll be reaching out to you soon to renew and update your listing for this year's guide. If you haven't considered supporting our work through membership, get in touch with Product Manager Alex Jones at alex@fairfoodphilly.org. She'll walk you through all the benefits we offer-- the first one you'll be able to take advantage of is an expanded listing in the Local Food Guide.

P.S. Grid is offering 10% off all ads in the Local Food Guide now through May 2nd. 1/10 of a page is going for $90, 1/6 page is $225, all the way up to $1238 for a full-page ad. This is a great deal on an ad that'll be seen by 30,000+ folks in the sustainability/local food world! Email jesse@gridphilly.com for details.
