Cheese Tasting Schedule 2010 – All are on Fridays 4pm – 6pm, at the Farmstand October 29th we'll be beering with a new supplier, Howard Field of Farm Fromage. He'll be bringing a salty, brusque semi-hard goat cheese, a raw cow blue with peppery, big beefy flavor, and a new semi-soft tomme that's a mix of goat and cow milk. Paired with a lovely local brew!
November 19th we will have cheesemaker Emily Montgomery out from Calkins Creamery in the Poconos. She will have her funky raw cow milk brie, Noble Road, and a beer-washed small round called Cowtipper. Paired with a lovely local brew!
** Special Event ** December 10th we will have a Yuletide Local Cheeseplate Celebration with Madame Fromage. This will be more formal than the other tastings. It will actually be a paid event that the Stand will close early for and be rearranged in honor of. It will feature Farmstand Cheesemonger Paul Lawler & Madame Fromage (aka Grid Magazine writer & local food professor Tenaya Darlington) and present a variety of cheeseplate possibilities for the holidays and the beers (& maybe liquors—ahem—asian pear local liquor) that go with them. More info coming soon!
December 17th we will feature local cheese vets Birchrun Hills from Chester County. The Miller family has been hand crafting some of the Philly areas most uniquely flavored cheeses for some time now. These include the creamy and dreamy Birchrun Blue, the eau-de-sock-and-sautéed-mushrooms stinker Fat Cat and the petite washed rind Red Cat. Also, The Foodery folks will have holiday strong brews and Sue's strong cheeses to warm your locavore heart this holiday
