We are in the thick of the summer season here at the ‘Stand! Tomatoes are popping up everywhere! We have gorgeous heirlooms and delicious rainbow cherry tomatoes from Blooming Glen. We are super excited to be working with the fine folks at Tap Root Farm again! They gave us a lovely selection of red slicing tomatoes, heirlooms and my favorite, pints of “Ping-Pong” tomatoes. Oh, I almost forgot, we have our first green tomatoes of the season! Get out your fry pots and pickling spices! We are also featuring beautiful baby leeks and scallions (perfect for a quick kiss on a hot grill!) from Blue Moon Acres in addition to their wonderfully crisp mixed greens and pea shoots.
Don’t forget the sweets either. An array of stone fruit from Beechwood Orchards; plums, peaches, nectarines and our first apples of the season! Our friends at Three Springs are bringing us their Flaming Fury yellow peaches and Sugar Giant white peaches as well as some ginger gold apples. For some more delicate fruits we have red raspberries from Valley Road and those awesome little ground cherries (think a pineapple meets a tomato) from Tap Root.
We are really proud to be serving up some ACS (American Cheese Society) award winning cheeses: the Crema De Bleu from Valley Shepherd and an old favorite, the Washington Crossing from Ely Farm. Plus Cheddar made just for Fair Food from Clover Creek!
